Covered Outdoor Dining Area – The Build

modern maaseik build

A solid level foundation is central for a long lasting, established and firm timber structure. With this knowledge the customer went ahead and laid a robust concrete base, topped off with aesthetically pleasing paving slabs.

The construction of our gazebos requires a degree of sawing in preparation for the construction. It is a DIY build, and the parts all arrive oversized with very detailed instructions showing how you go about constructing it. Due to the simplicity of the design, it can be adapted very easily on site to suit your own preferences, the only limit is your imagination.

Using easy to follow plans and drawings, this process is a straight-forward one in which Mr Bewick had no issues in carrying out.

Cutting Posts

First the 6 vertical posts were cut to Mr Bewick’s requirements following the guidance. Followed by the 4 horizontal pieces for the frame perimeter. The pieces are then screwed together ensuring everything is square.

Post Holders

Post holders are then installed. In this case, screw-down post holders were utilised as it was going onto a solid level concrete base. We also offer spiked post holders for soft ground installations.

Diagonal support timber was then cut to requirements. These were then secured with screws into the vertical support beams ensuring the structure is square throughout. Then the roof beams were then be cut to size and screwed directly into the top frame of the gazebo ready for the roofing.

Walls

The 4 frames for the wall boards were then cut and assembled and secured onto the structure. The wall boards were then cut to size and affixed to the frames. The walls come in either standard Green impregnated timber or in black spray coated at an extra cost. The customer opted for the black coated for more of a bold look.

Roofing Boards

The roof boards were then cut and laid directly onto the beams. They were then topped with EPDM which is the best type of roofing material for this type of building. More details on laying EPDM can be found in our comprehensive “Laying EPDM Blog”

The Gazebo was finished off with barge boards along the top perimeter for a modern look.

Conclusion

Overall, the Modern Maaseik Spruce Gazebo is a fantastic addition to any backyard. Its combination of modern design and natural materials make it the perfect spot for hosting outdoor dining events, relaxing with friends and family, or simply enjoying the beautiful weather. With its durability and versatility, this gazebo is sure to be a favourite spot for many seasons to come.
