Our verandas come in a few colour selections as standard, such as white (RAL 9016), cream white (RAL 9001), anthracite (RAL 7016) and gray (RAL 9007). However any colour from the RAL colour system can also be specified.

• Condensation-related problems on my veranda: Probably the most common problem that people come across with their verandas relates to condensation build-up. Left unchecked, condensation can cause mold and wet seating areas. A window vacuum is an excellent tool to clear up condensation and keep the polycarbonate roofing of your veranda dry. It is also important to make sure open sides of your veranda are left unobstructed so air can flow more easily.

• Sun damage on garden furniture and other items: This applies to glass verandas due to their properties. Items underneath it such as your garden furniture may be susceptible to sun and UV damage, similar to if it was left uncovered in the garden. Keeping your furniture covered when not in use is an easy way to prevent this. Alternatively, applying a UV-blocking film to the glass will reduce the effects of long-term sun exposure for your furniture, as well as protect you better.

• The guttering and drainage is overflowing: It is important to drainage and guttering is left unobstructed in order for water to drain freely. Regularly inspect the guttering for any debris or blockages and ensure that the drainage exit is left clear to avoid flooding.

• Rust forming on the veranda's frame: The powder coating on the aluminium is most likely to wear away as the bottom/base of the veranda. Regular maintenance and touch-up of the powder coating can help prevent this issue, ensuring the longevity and aesthetic appeal of the veranda.

• Mold forming on furniture because of veranda condensation: As mentioned, this is a big worry for many veranda owners. If left, the condensation will drip onto your furniture, potentially resulting in mold/rot forming. A furniture cover on top of cleaning the condensation will reduce this risk significantly.

• What if it obscures the view/neighbours complain? A common concern, in spite of permission to build, is building bad relations with neighbours with structures in your garden. It is important to familiarise yourself with "Right to Light" laws in the UK for a better understanding on your rights as well as neighbours.

Debunking Myths and Misunderstandings

There are a lot of misconceptions associated with owning a garden veranda. Let us clear up some common misunderstandings to help you make an informed decision.

• A garden veranda compromises the view: It's a common misunderstanding that a garden veranda will block the view of your garden. However, not only do the glass panels make these veranda roofs see-through, but the pent slope at the top is a fairly flat roof design with plenty of head clearance. Whether you're standing up or sitting down, your view will not be obstructed.

• It'll be too humid under a veranda, like a greenhouse: Whilst your veranda will be a nice hotspot under the sun, it will not be like a greenhouse nor a furnace. Due to the large open space and free-flowing air the humidity will not linger. Shading options are also available for you to block out the sun if your veranda space does get too warm.

• Why not just buy a conservatory? Whilst both structures are an open glass space attached to the back of your house, they are not even comparable. Not to mention, conservatories require a lot more steps, permissions, time and cost significantly more than a veranda will.
