There are three main materials used in our range of outdoor storage solutions. Each one have their own advantages as well as fit to different budgets.

Panelled Outdoor Storage

Panelled sheds are a popular choice for their sturdy construction, while being simpler to install too. As our garden storage solutions come in self build kits, many DIY beginners may opt for a panelled shed. Offering reliable protection against the elements and budget friendly, they provide an ideal solution for storing items and serving as workshop spaces.

Log Cabin Sheds

Using the same interlocking logs as our range of log cabins. The traditional material used for these sheds are much more durable and longer lasting than plastic. These are ideal for a more durable structure to protect your belongings from the elements, especially for the rainer parts of the UK. These sheds are made from Spruce, a recognised timber for a stable and durable garden building.

Garden shed bases construction

One of the most important parts of the build installation is a base. To ensure our shed, storage and other garden buildings have the long life span as intended a flat and level base is required for any building.

A base can be pretty much made out of anything: concrete, timber, paving stones. But, any base provided for any of our sheds and storage has to follow this criteria:

  • Consideration should be given to the majority of the weight being placed on the perimeter of the cabin.

  • Consideration should be given to the weight of the cabin, a 19mm is obviously considerably different to a 70mm.

  • It should be 100% level in every direction.

  • Ideally it should be square.

  • Ideally to just over the footprint size of the building

For more details, please read Base Requirements.

Addressing your concerns

  • My roof has blown off (wind). Strong winds can damage improperly secured roofs. Ensure all roofing materials are correctly installed and secured according to the instructions to withstand adverse weather conditions. Also ensure to install the antistorm screws and fixings if your shed is in a windy zone or in a place with no surranding structures/protections.

  • I made an installation error. If you encounter installation errors, refer to the detailed instructions provided or contact our support team for guidance. Many issues can be resolved with minor adjustments.

  • There's mold on my shed's walls. How can I get rid of it? : Mold can develop due to excess moisture. Ensure proper ventilation, use dehumidifiers if necessary, and regularly clean and treat the interior and exterior wood surfaces to prevent mold growth. A mixture of hot water and Vinegar is the ideal way to do a quick cleaning and treatment of the wood, maintaining it shiny and in good shape. For severe mold infestations or rotting wood we recommend you stronger chemicals and wood treatments.

Exploring more uses and alternatives for your shed

  • Animal shelter: Our sheds are not designed to be used as stables, but that doesn't mean you can't create a space for smaller animals like your dogs or even a chicken coop. Keep in mind that a large animal can cause a lot of structural damage in a short time due to knocks or droppings and such a small space may not be the best place for them.

  • Private bar: This is usually one of the most common options. If you like to share a common space with your friends, this shed can be a good option, although keep in mind that the thickness of the walls and the size of the shed are not as big as what you could find in a wooden cabin.

  • kids playground: A great option if you want your children to play quietly, without having to constantly pick up toys at home or simply to have a separate space where they can do what they want.

  • motorcycle garage/bike sheds: We all know how damaging it is in the long term if your vehicle is left out in the open, especially if you go on holiday or do not use it for long periods of time. A shed is a cheaper option than a wooden garage, albeit smaller in size, but if you want to look after your motorbike or bikes, this structure is the most convenient and economical.

  • Office: Having your own office or home office helps you to concentrate better on your work and one of the rooms is not unused when you are out of working hours. With a couple of square metres you can have your own isolated work or study space, free from noise, interruptions or distractions.

Understanding common concerns

We know that investing in a wooden shed can bring up some worries. Let us address and alleviate those fears to help you make the best decision.

  • Im moving out, but I want to take with me my shed. It can be done? Moving a shed requires careful planning and professional assistance to ensure it’s done safely and efficiently. While it’s a challenging task, it’s possible with the right approach and support. There are specialiced companies that can move the entire structure from one place to another, you just have to consider the cost of this between building a new one.

  • Can I dismount and rebuild my shed? Of course, although bear in mind that many parts are pinned and secured, so certain sections will have to go whole or will need modification / repair if you take them apart and reassemble them later. Many users replace parts or move their shed around if they need to.

  • I leave in a urbanisation, the HOA can stop me or denounce me if I build a shed on my garden? If your shed does not exceed 2.5 metres in height and is not in poor condition or painted in an extravagant way, it should not cause problems. In any case, find out about the boundaries between properties, urbanisation regulations and local regulations, if you have any doubts.
